If you have a short film (under 30min) about children, made by children or could be interesting to a younger audience (under 18s), you are welcome to fill in the application below. This year the festival’s theme is “A point on a map”.


Your film will be shown on the big screen of movie theatres in Saint Petersburg, Russia. All participants receive festival certificates and winners receive award diplomas as well as memorable prizes. Awards will be sent to your home address at the expense of the festival.


You are also invited to take part in the Grand Closing and Award Ceremonies of the festival, which will be held on 18.06.2018 in Saint Petersburg, Russia.   The 9th Russian Children Cinema Festival «KinoOstrov».

About us

· cinema amateurs and professionals, who make movies for children and with them;

· teachers, headmasters of cinema schools and studios, curators of programs;

· students of cinema unions, schools and studios;

· and all other people who are interested in the process of making non–commercial fiction short movies and who has an interest in the educational system of cinematography, oriented towards children.



Film requirements:

1) The maximum acceptable duration is 30 minutes. Films with a longer duration will be considered for the out-the-competition program

2) The year of production must be 2015 or later

3) Films must be aimed towards the interests of younger audiences.

4) Any audio language is allowed (with obligatory English subtitles)

5) Films must be provided in HD

6) Violence, racial or national hatred is NOT welcome
